Double Victory for PYD U16 Girls and Boys Volleyball Teams!

Our PYD U16 Girls and Boys volleyball teams dominated the court on Thursday (20 March), securing back-to-back victories against APIS! With strong serves, unbeatable teamwork, and sheer determination, both teams showcased their best performances and proved why PYD is a force to be reckoned with.

Boys Team Fight Hard for Victory!

The boys started strong, taking the first set 25-10. But APIS was not going to let them win without a fight. The second set was a thriller as they closed in, but PYD held firm, taking the match 25-23.

Mepooh (Y9) captured the essence of the game: “I spiked the ball, and it went out, but honestly, I’m proud. I played my best.” He admitted bristling in the heat as APIS started closing in on them: “In the first place, I thought we were ready. They started closing up the gap, and I panicked. When we finally won, I just let loose and shouted!”

Savion (Y11) described his take on the game: “We knew APIS wasn’t the best team, but we still played to the best of our abilities. Receiving was a bit challenging for me, but my serves? Blazing a trail! Three in succession!”

Coach Kru Blair lavished praise on the team: “I had the feeling we would win. We have good athletes, and our practices have been spot-on. The team serving today made all the difference.”

Even APIS couldn’t help but give credit where credit was due. Their team player, Bil (Y10) l, said, “Their serves were wild, and I was especially impressed at their spiking.”

Girls Team Claims Impressive Victory!

If you thought the boys’ game was exciting, the girls’ team set the bar higher. They completely dominated from start to finish, taking a whopping 25-8 in the first set and an even greater 25-7 spread in the second.

Miyasi (Y11) confessed she didn’t know what to expect at the start of the game: “APIS looked strong during warm-up, so I thought it would be tougher. But when the game started, I knew we could do it.” Her highlight? “Serving! I served in the first game, had the final point, and closed out the second game not missing a serve.”

Lyscia’s (Y9) experience was similar: “I was nervous initially—it had been some time since I played, and APIS looked so pro with all that gear. But when the game started, things just went really well. My serves were excellent, my bumping was super, and communication between our team was impeccable.”

Kiri (Y10) mentioned wonderful teamwork: “We yelled for the ball, worked together, and left everything on the field. The best part? To see all those smiling faces when we came out on top. It was awesome!”

Coach couldn’t be prouder: “I didn’t go in expecting to win. I just wanted to see what kind of teamwork would be out there. But whoa, they blew me away! Their teamwork and footwork were light years better than last year.”

APIS player Ani (Y8)  admitted that it was a tough game for her team: “We’re all rookies and have played only for around three months. We hoped to at least get 10 points per set, and though we didn’t, we still managed to play better compared to our last games.”

A Day to Remember!

Players, coaches, and even parents agreed – PYD’s magic was communication and teamwork. One parent summed it up for all when she remarked, “What impressed me was that they had each other’s backs. Even when someone did something wrong, their teammates were cheering them on. That’s what makes a great team.”

With amazing plays, upbeat energy, and hard-won victories, it was a day PYD volleyball won’t forget anytime soon. Next stop? The next great adventure. Let’s keep that momentum going – Go PYD!
