Lights, drama, action!
Get ready to take your seats—the Theatre Showcase is almost here, and you do not want to miss it. This special event is our chance to shine our spotlight on the incredible talent and creativity of our Year 7s and Year 8s, with performances that hope to entertain, inspire, and even make you laugh a little.
So… what is the Theatre Showcase?
It’s a celebration of the performing arts where students take to the stage to share what they’ve been working on in their drama classes. It’s open to everyone—students, teachers, families—so come along, support your classmates, and enjoy a live theatre experience right here at school. “I am absolutely excited and in awe as we approach the Theatre-in-Process Showcase for Year 7 and 8 on 9th May! This event is truly a celebration of teaching, learning, and sharing, where students step boldly into the world of theatre, creativity, and collaboration,” said Kru Vineet, Panyaden’s Film & Theatre Teacher and the organiser of this exciting event.
What can you expect?
Year 8: A Moment of Theatre
The Year 8s will be performing original scenes based on realistic snippets of life. Think raw, relatable, funny, and thought-provoking. Their pieces explore everyday moments that carry emotional weight—friendships, conflict, choices, and growing up. These short plays show how powerful even the quietest moments can be when brought to life on stage.
Year 7: The Hero’s Return & Ensemble
Meanwhile, the Year 7 Showcase, ‘A HERO RETURNS!’, takes audiences on a journey exploring courage, transformation, and teamwork. Through Ensemble and Devised Theatre, students collaborated to craft a performance full of imagination and energy. “This is not just a performance; it is creativity in action, a testament to hard work and the spirit of ensemble storytelling,” explains Kru Vineet.
What people are saying
We spoke to a few students involved in the performances, and the buzz was real. “I’m so excited because I have been preparing for this for a whole term and I really want to showcase what we’ve been working so hard on!” said one Year 8 performer. “I really like my team’s script, plot, and costumes. I feel ready and I can’t wait to see everyone’s performances!”
Teachers are just as excited. “I know that the students have been working hard in preparation for this event. I can’t wait to see the exhibition of different talents within our Year & and Year 8 groups!” said one teacher.
