Panyaden Celebrates Earth Week with Fun and Purpose

This week, our school celebrated Earth Week – a time not only to reflect on our planet, but to take action, learn something new, and have fun while doing it. With themed spirit days, inspiring guest speakers, and hands-on activities, Earth Week became more than just a calendar event – it turned into a meaningful movement within our school community.

Each day brought something new: from dressing in green for Earth & Plants Day to wearing old or thrifted clothes on Reuse Day. These spirit themes weren’t just fun – they were reminders of the small lifestyle choices we can make to reduce our impact on the environment. As Sophia, a Year 8 student, put it, “Well, I think Earth Week this year was amazing because we got to dress up in every category!”

One of the highlights of the week was hearing from a guest speaker from Bangkok, who explained why biodiversity is key to living sustainably. Khun Mew’s message was empowering, reminding us that our voices and actions matter. She discussed the severe impact of human activity on the environment and warned that if we don’t act soon, it may be too late.

Representatives from Chiang Mai University Biology Department also came to present at a special assembly. The two guests spoke about their work with schools, reminding us that change can even happen with young students.

Earth Week reminded us that protecting the planet starts with our everyday actions, at school, at home, and in the choices we make. It’s not about being perfect, but about doing our part, learning from each other, and continuing the effort after the week ends.

When we work together to care for the Earth, real change is possible and it starts with us!
