Hoops, Spikes, and School Spirit: Sapphire’s Action-Packed Thursday

This Thursday, the Sapphire House captains organized an afternoon of fun and competition with a hula hoop challenge and volleyball matches.

The rules of the hula hoop game were simple but tricky in practice. When the game master called out a number—such as four—each hula hoop had to contain exactly that many people. Any hoop with more or fewer players was eliminated. In the very first round, the number called was ten. Many students struggled to squeeze that many people into a single hoop while still getting the number exactly right, which led to several early eliminations.

In the middle school and combined competition, Black Diamonds took first place. In the high school round, Emeralds came out on top.

Meanwhile, the volleyball courts were just as lively, with middle school and high school teams competing in energetic matches. Black Diamonds secured the victory in the middle school tournament, while Emeralds were crowned champions in the high school games.

A big thank-you goes to Yannis for providing the upbeat music that kept players energized and the atmosphere lively throughout the afternoon.
